Development Of Multimedia Distance Education Supporting System And Application Of Database Technology

The thesis analyzes the present status of multimedia distance education system, and then concludes the two focus problems——making multimedia courseware suitable for the Internet transmission and realizing interaction, intelligence and multimedia of distance education supporting system.The thesis mainly works on the latter. It analyzes the necessity and feasibility of developing multimedia distance education supporting system. On the basis of database and streaming media technologies, ASP is used to develop the multimedia web examination & self-examination system and automatic & real-time answer system on the Internet, which target on trying to realize automation to reduce teachers repeated labor. Not only the concept multimedia test question has been put forward to make good use of the advantages of Internet, but also multimedia has been introduced into answer system to reinforce intercommunication between teachers and students. Therefore a new teaching mode on the Internet has been created. The thesis also analyzes how to optimize the performance of the whole distance education supporting platform based on SQL Server7.0 database, and emphasizes on the four aspects of logical database design, index usability, query structure and procedure objects. It also discusses the extension of system functions from the point of view of database design in order to realize the distance education quality appraisal and tracking in the future. The system test demonstrates the optimization methods are effective and improve the query response greatly.
