There is a widely held view that a continuum, or bridge is necessary in the professional development of teachers, linking initial training, entering into full time teaching, and subsequent learning. The central span of the bridge is usually referred to the period of induction. It is a rough crossing from studentship, through novicehood, into experience, expertise and excellence as a teacher. In 1980s,many countries adopt induction program to support the further professional development of many newly qualified teachers. In the time, the sudden surge in the search for teaching professional standards demonstrates a considerable gap in the conceptualization of teaching and teaching practice. Initial teacher education suffered critical criticism. A new form of school based teacher education appeared at once in Britain and America. Subsequently, introduction training attaches much attention in many countries. Our country pay attention to it in 90s.Some education institution and teachers in-service training school made some attempts on it. But it is a new project, lack of theoretical study and practical experience, it doesn't receive satisfactory effect. Therefore, we should keep a study on it both in theory and practice. The thesis firstly researches the theories about introduction training, describes some practical experience of other counties. Then it analyses the situation of introduction training implementation in China through questionnaires and interview. Lastly, it provides some countermeasures against the problems. The thesis is divided into four parts:Part 1: introduces the setting and significance of introduction training and research method, explain some key words.Part 2: discusses the theories about introduction training and describes the practical experience of introduction training in other countries. Part 3: analyzes the situation of introduction training implementation in China. Part4: make some on the problems.
