The Computer-Assisted Instruction has already been the most intriguing modern educational means with the rapid development of digital technology, computer technology and network technology. The core of making full use of advantage for multimedia education is the design of multimedia educational software.This paper presents a thorough study of the current state of multimedia electromagnetic courseware from home and abroad. According to the theory of modern educational design, a new designing style "module" model which is based on the knowledge dot and the functional structure is offered in the paper. The whole teaching system is composed of five modules, namely, physical teaching, animation demonstrating, different problem answer, virtual experiments, exam system. The idea of design to teaching module is emphasized on the system's practicability, feasibility and predetermination according to the idea of combining modern teaching principle with multimedia technology. All sorts of multimedia tools is also used to design the whole courseware according to the multimedia technology's integration, interactivity and nonlinearity. So, the major object of the project is used to not only self-study, but also collaborative study. New module and related teaching information can be easily added up to the multimedia teaching system.The evaluation of multimedia courseware is key to multimedia courseware equality. The theory and design method of the inner module is also put forward according to the modern evaluation theory.Meanwhile, the development of multimedia education and multimedia instructional technology in the future is prospected and reviewed. To draw a conclusion, its intention is guided to research and design of multimedia educational software in the future.
