| Currently, as a kind of learning style, cooperative learning has been more and more widely applied in student-centered teaching practice, becoming a breakthrough and complement to traditional teaching style. This paper brings to light the connotation and value of cooperative learning by expounding its history and background. Cooperative learning is not only a kind of learning style but also a kind of educational ideology. The value of cooperative learning lies in improving students' academic achievement and classroom atmosphere effectively; besides the more important is that it effectively brings about a great advance in students' non-cognitive characters. Therefore, carrying out deep research on its feasibility and popularity has profound significance. Cooperative learning in mathematics directed by its basic principles and methods, in the light of mathematics' specific features is a kind of learning activity which guides students to study collaboratively in heterogeneous groups, thus promotes students' development in cognition, emotion and personality. Cooperative learning's functions hi mathematics teaching of high schools are as follows: 1 it can provide powerful supporting mechanism to students' mathematics learning. 2 it can adapt to various mathematical class styles and many mathematical problems can be explored in the form of it. 3 it is more suitable for developing students' various spirits and competences. 4 it supplies many opportunities for every students' success. So this paper mainly studies some cooperative learning problems related to mathematics teaching in secondary schools, such as grouping in cooperative learning, activities, choice of the right moment, mathematical problems suitable for cooperative learning, ways to foster students' communication and cooperation in groups. This research bases itself upon Chinese classroom-instructed style. Because cooperative learning which is carried out in groups has its specific feature different from traditional teaching, some aspects such as class' management and organization, coordinating group activities, dealing with relationships among class, group and students, play important part in cooperative learning. This paper also goes further into the problem of teachers' role. Based on this, it puts forwards its own views and propositions about the relationship between cooperative learning and other kinds of learning styles, just as a reference for future teaching practice. |
