Chinese self-learning ability of the students in junior middle schools is a mental characteristic which measures their level of their language practice (Reading, Writing , Listening and Speaking) directly and stably. The information society's coming and the act that teaching level about Chinese in middle schools is very low make the developing Chinese self-learning ability of the students in junior middle schools a urgent matter. According to physiological and psychological factor about developing to self-learning ability, as the subject of studying, the students in junior middle schools perfectly have possibility to teach themselves. In this respect, many famous special grade teachers of Chinese have made fruitful exploration. They have reached the same goal by different means. They have obtained good teaching benefits. These acts give eloquent proof of the possibility of this teaching scheme which develops Chinese self-learning ability for the students in junior middle schools. On the other hand ,they have left us precious treasure in the respect of theory and practice. To develop their Chinese self-learning ability, we must do three things, the first , develop their consciousness of self-learning, the second, accomplish relatively matured Chinese learning tactics; the third, accomplish a good Chinese learning habit. The writer design a teaching model about developing Chinese self-learning ability for the students in junior middle schools. The model contains four links which are students' self-studying, teacher' guiding to students' self-studying, teacher' examination to their self-studying and essentially teaching, the students' practice. They are not distinct from each other. We may put particular emphasis on certain links in view of different texts. The model' goal is making the teaching process become a process where students put them into practice of Chinese self-studying during the whole period. In order to help the students in junior school develop their Chinese self-learning ability, we must improve our teaching method and teaching material and examination.
