Classroom assessment is the strategy of improving teaching and learning in the American higher education institution. Its basic thought is that teacher is placed on the center position of improving teaching and learning, it achieves the goal of increasing quality of teaching and learning by increasing process quality of teaching and learning. According to the background of investigating and analyzing main ways to improving teaching and learning in China and America, this dissertation interprets detailed implication of classroom assessment and examine its effectiveness that it is used in our practice through the pilot method. The pilot indicates that we can also receive good results if we apply classroom assessment to our classroom. Introducing classroom assessment in our practice of teaching and learning is not only necessary, but also practicable teaching and learning; in addition, spreading classroom assessment in the whole practice field of teaching and learning in our higher education institution, increasing extensively quality of teaching and learning need proper condition and measure, so the author put forward initial strategies and ways in the last part.The dissertation is composed of four parts:The first part is about investigation and analysis of main strategies and ways to improving teaching and learning in Chinese and American higher education institution from the history point of view. In addition, the author summarizes and evaluates them in order to make the bed for drawing forth classroom assessment.The second part is about detail interpretation. It concludes classroom assessment principle, classroom assessment techniques, and relation to the other ways to improving teaching and learning, situation of applying classroom assessment to practice in the American higher education institution.The third part is about effectiveness research that classroom assessment is applied to our practice in the Chinese higher education institution. Through pilot researches, we can conclude that classroom assessment is also applicable to thepractice of teaching and learning in our higher education institution; it obviously improves teaching and learning. In addition, the author further analysis and discussthe pilot conclusion in this part.The fourth part is about necessary and practicable analysis that classroomassessment is introduced to our practice of teaching and learning in higher educationinstitution. In addition, the author puts forward relevant strategies and ways.
