New Century Moral Education Aims Prospective Study

The 21st century is a century of knowledge economy century with both fierce social competition and wonderful prospect that people look forward to. Competition of human resources is the most important competition among the nations. Moral education aims at developing noble soul among the people and its goal is essential for moral education work. In reviewing the College Moral Education Outlines which has been promulgated and implemented for seven years, great achievements have been made and a large of number of professionals have been produced. But, the moral education goal stipulated in the outlines exists deficiency and can not meet the needs of current situation, in comparison with the requests made by the 3rd strategic goal of social modernization by the middle of the 21st century as well as the needs of knowledge economy development and economy globalization. To meet the needs of higher professionals for socialist modernization construction and college moral education,, it is one of the most important tasks for moral educators to further explore and reform the college moral education goal under current circumstances.Adhering to the spirit "Keeping pace with the tendency of the day", the writer has summarized the practical experiences of college moral education goal and studied the current situation of Chinese economy development as well as characteristics of psychological and intellectual growth for Chinese college students. Based on the "Five Becomings", which was put forward by President Jiang Zeming in his speech in the 90t; Anniversary of Qinghua University, the writer has made a prospective study on college moral education goal in order to form a new goal and promote college moral education in the new century. The thesis has three sections.Section One: Evaluation on College Moral Education Goal. In this section, ia reviewing developmental history of college moral education since the establishment of the new China and evaluating the college moral education goal issued in 1995, the writer tried to find evidences and deficiency for reform and formation of the new goal.Section Two: Modification of College Moral Education Goal. Based on Jiang Zeming' s " Five Becomings", modify the college moral education goal by clarifying ambiguous contents and correcting deficiency in the existed goal.Section Three: Adding New Contents to the College Moral Education Goal. Through prospective study on implementation of college moral education goal in the first and middle period of 21st century and based on the " Four Unifications" raised by President Jiang Zeming in the speech in Centennial Anniversary of Beijing University, in addition to continuous strengthening of political quality education, the education of ideological, psychological and moral quality which are more suitable and important for intellectual growth at knowledge economy stage is suggested to be added to the college moral education goal. These qualities include creative spirit and practical ability, international field of vision and broad-minded, sustainable development concept between the human being and the nature, honesty and trustworthiness, healthy personality and interpersonal relations, etc. The writer has also studied the methods and ways to achieve the above six objectives and some valuable suggestions have been made.
