21st century is an era of knowledge economy, which demands a big leap of the higher education to provide human resources for the economic and social development. On the other hand, the current operational mechanism in higher education can't meet the request of socialist market economy. To industrialize the higher education has become the development orientation in developed countries. How to use the theoretical and practical experiences of the industrialization of higher education in other countries for reference and to form our own theory system to guide the development of China's higher education have a significant and realistic meaning.Ways and methods of disciplines, such as management, economics, pedagogy and system engineering have been applied, theories on the industrialization of higher education at home and abroad are analyzed in a comprehensive way and the industrialization of China's higher education is studied systematically from theoretical and substantial evidence angles in this paper. In the first chapter, the research meaning and methods of study of the industrialization are introduced. Secondly, the statement and realistic background of the industrialization in China are demonstrated, and national conditions such as reentry into WTO, popular higher education, knowledge economy era and higher education backwardness make the industrialization urgent. Thirdly, combined with the international theories and practice on the industrialization, the connotations of the industrialization are defined, the theories on the industrialization are expounded systematically and the rationality of industrialization and marketing is recognized theoretically. Fourthly, the operation ways of higher education industrialization in China are put forward after the present problems in China being taken into consideration. The industrialization requires support from outside and strong ability from inside, which makes the industrialization practicable. Fifthly, the possible negative results - conflict between equality and efficiency, over-education, sliding of education quality and ignorance of people's overall development- are analyzed profoundly and solutions are suggested. Finally, the successful operation of Xi'an International University is taken as a case and analyzed.
