This thesis views that the "main topics" of Chinese Education in different stages in the past 100 years are related to the argument between science culture and humanities culture, they are the reflections of main contradiction of culture on Chinese Education. It must be based on contemporary culture background to solve the problems on Chinese Education, and understands the nature and significance of the problems by analyzing culture to find out how to solve the problems. Chinese Education is an action that people try to improve persons' psychological quality structure and personality in language aspect. It includes the influence of language on thinking, cultural psychological structure, personality and sense of value. Culture is a kind of meaningful network weaved by human being and also a state or a process of perfecting themselves, and it is an integrity of wisdom and imagination works, it is also a description of special way of life. Not only in Art and Value does the description express some kind of significance and value, but also in system and everyday life.The development of science culture led to the separation of culture which was further divided into science culture and humanities culture. Since culture was divided, Chinese Education has played the role of Arts Education. Language works is the main education material which is the most important part in humanities culture of which Chinese Education is one part. Chinese Education has the cultural responsibility to inherit and transmit humanities culture, spread humanities spirit and cultivate Chinese people of new century.However, the development of Chinese Education in the past 100 years was experiencing a lot of difficulties and unsteadiness. Especially under the influence of science positivism and science utilitarianism, there is a trend of separation between Chinese and humanities culture and now Chinese Education is walking towards science culture, and is losing its humanities ideal and humanities pursuit. If Chinese Education lost humanities ideal, it would not cultivate new Chinese in modern times.This thesis aims to correct the dislocation of Chinese Education by analyzing the bad influence of scientific positivism and utilitarianism on Chinese Education, and indicates that Chinese Education is one important part of humanities culture and humanities as a kind of culture. The thesis attempts to find out the differences between humanities culture and science culture by comparing the two so as to establish the research field, research methods and value orientation.
