However, satisfaction with the Web for purposes of learning has not been as strong as proponents may have hoped. Creating a community for supporting learners is one strategy that has been recommended for increasing satisfaction. The designer and/or instructor of a course can have the goal of creating a learning community, but may not have a clear idea of how to make this happen. Understanding the sense of learning community and identifying successful strategies and techniques for enabling community to develop are critical steps toward making the goal a reality. The purpose of this paper is to expatiate foundational concept of learning community and present several strategies and techniques for community building in Web-based learning environments. A community is a group of people who are socially interdependent, who participate together in discussion and decision-making,and who share certain practices that both define the community and are nurtured by it. Such a learning community is not easily formed. We should pay attention to lots of aspects of building learning community, such as sense of community, participance of students, different channels of interaction.
