The present study investigated achievement motivation,leaming strategy use and the scores in physics in three time points during the first semester when the students begin to study physics in Grade 8.Its purpose is to explore the change of the relation among achievement motivation,learning strategy and the scores in physics during the whole semester.The study showed that:1 .Achievement motivation, learning strategy had significant positive correlation with the scores in physics of students in Grade 8.2.Achievement motivation had significant positive correlation with learning strategy.3.The effect on the students'physics learning in Grade 8 of achievement motivation had changed in different periods in a semester. When the students are unfamiliar with the physics,value and general self-concept can't predict learning strategy use and the scores in physics effectively,expectancy can predict the scores in physics. When the students are familiar with the physics,physics self-concept, expectancy and value can predict the use of learning strategy,and they can't predict the scores in physics directly.4. The effect on the students'physics learning in Grade 8 of four variables of learning strategy had changed in different periods in a semester. When the students are unfamiliar with the physics, physics-specific and effort-management stategy can predict the scores in physics,the use of metacognitive strategies and general cognitive strategy can't predict the scores in physics. When the students are familiar with the physics, the use of metacognitive strategies can predict the scores in physics, and general cognitive strategy are related with the scores in physics.strongly, and physics-specific and effort-management stategy are related with the scores in physics weakly.5 The performance in physics learning of boys and girls had changed in different periods in a semester. When the students are unfamiliar with the physics,the boys' scores in physics are higher than the girls',but no sex difference was found,and no sex difference were found in all variables of achievement motivation and learning strategy. When the students are familiar with the physics,boys'scores in physics are higher than girls,and the difference approach the level of significance.and there were significant difference in physics self-concept,value and the use of metacognitive.
