Quality education, is a hot spot in educational circles. Achieving the conversion from "examination education" to "quality education", is an enormous social systematic program which involves various aspects, the degree of difficulty is understood without further explanation. Especially, achieving the conversion in rural middle school is more difficult. First , sense of education is difficult to change , peasant families have always maintained to study is to get rid of rural area , once "examination education"is changed to "quality education", they will be fearful of their prospect. Second , the pressure of school is big , the proportion of students entering schools of a higher grade is low in rural middle school, if the proportion can not reach local average level, the school is difficult to endure all kinds of pressure. Third , the quality of staff and the way of running schools are to suit. Putting quality education into force needs a high quality teacher contingents and good conditions of running a school. Rural middle school is always the vulnerable spot in elementary education . The quality of staff and the way of running schools are bound to affect quality education . In the conversion , rural middle schools must be acted key-point and difficult point.In this article, the author expounds the connotation, characteristics and historical origins of quality education, and analyses the position and effect of geography teaching on quality education .Through surveying part of rural middle schools, in view of existing situation of quality education in geography teaching in rural middle school: sense of quality education is backward; the quality of staff and hardware of quality education is bad; quality education becomes a mere formality, the author analyses the main causes of the difficulty from internal and external education, including improvement of educational system is not suitable; the theory and sense of quality education is backward; social agreement to geography quality education; the rural social cultural; the peasants' ideological sense and so on , thus the author put forward six pots of strategy about how to put the quality education in geography teaching in rural middle school into practice. First, transformeducational thinking; second, carry out educational policy; third, enhance the building of a strong contingent of the rural geography teacher; forth, confront correctly the rural geography quality education; fifth, select accurately the entrance of the rural geography teaching; sixth, establish scientific system of evaluation ; seventh, exploit school , family and society's advantages to the full, forming composite force of quality education. Finally , the author look forward to the future of geography quality education in the rural middle school.
