As a manifestation of people's ideology, art has been an essential component of human civilization from time immemorial; therefore it plays a vital role in our culture. Since its birth, art has been contributing a lot to the development of human beings' history and it's no surprising to say it is a reflection of the various stages in human beings' history. However, art is under the influence of the whole cultural system and artists, audience, readers, etc. are no exceptions to the influence. Consequently, the creation and appreciation of art is also under influence. Some techniques, talent for art and culture make an artist. The art education, which is the key part in aesthetics education, takes its major goal as the cultivation of a whole person. The task of secondary school education is both the cultivation of qualified students for higher education as well as for our society and the spreading of art and promoting our national culture. The art education is a fundamental part in the cultivation of artists, who will in turn play an important role in spreading and promoting art. As a result, artists are highly expected in terms of learning, morality, etc. The course of ideological and political education is an essential one in our elementary, secondary and higher education. However, the cultivation of students' as a whole person has long been neglected, which leads to a series of consequences, such as: students' lacking in comprehensive knowledge, being poor at art theories, and this goes against the requirements for talents in the future. The fact of current art education is that much more attention is paid to the speciality, less attention is paid to other courses, the course of ideological and political education in particular, which lays restraints on the improvement of art education. So, currently the big problem for art education is to strengthen the ideological and political education and how to cultivate students as a whole person for our society. Based on what I've learned and my own teaching experience, in this thesis I've discussed the quality and importance of the course of ideological and political education in secondary art school. Also, an analysis of the causes and an appropriate elementary approach has been made in it. The purpose of doing all this is attempting to find out the effective method and approach for the course of ideological and political education in secondary art school, which will lay a solid foundation for the cultivation of students as a whole person.
