The physics history is a compound subject that the physics mixed with several natural sciences and social sciences. Not only basic knowledge of physics, mathematics and chemistry are contained in the physics history, but also abundant knowledge of philosophy and sociology are contained in which. Some famous persons have studied a great deal of education function of physics history. Some research work may be provided to teaching reference for teachers, but the research result has not be fully applied to raise the general quality of middle school students, a lot of research work has not be introduced to educative theory and practice, and it doesn't be close combined with teaching and course. So the effect of physics history to middle school students in the general quality is studied in this paper.1. The research work related with the effect of physics history to middle school students in the general quality is summarized. The present development of physics history used to training the general quality of middle school students, and the teaching situation is introduced.2. The meaning of the general quality of middle school students is discussed, it contains both the quality of science and the quality of society culture. Before experiment, some statistic results of the general quality of some middle school students in ChuXiong area is proposed by the graph.3. During Mar. 2004 to Jan. 2005, the experiment based on educative function of physics history was finished in Class 4 of Grade two of ChuXiong No.3 Middle School, and Class 5 is considered as the cross reference. First, the students searched for the knowledge related with physics history during after class. Second, the teacher introduced the knowledge of physics history during teaching of physics class. Furthermore, some information related with physics history were supplied by the special course or lecture. The knowledge of physics history includes the well-known stories of Newton, Faraday and Einstein, and the unknown stories of Malus etc.4. The experiment students and the students as cross reference were tested after finishing of experiment. For verifying the effect of experiment, the information of experiment was analyzed by using Spss For Windows Ver11.0.It has been shown by the result of experiment that the effect of strengthening education of physics history knowledge has obvious effect to raise the general quality of middle school students.
