Humane spirit is the consciousness that stresses men's values, demands and full development that pay attentions to the basic implication of men's "life world", and that makes efforts to reach these values and implications in the actual life. Humane spirit is essentially men-oriented and its core point is men's nature values. It pursues an integration of the true, the good and the beautiful. This thesis is, in the context of high school education at a status of more emphasis on tool sense rather than value sense and humane spirit development, to present a full analysis of the reasons that lead to humane spirit absence of the high school students from the viewpoint of school education. The author argues that humane spirit absence in school education is one of the key factors that bring about negative impact to the development of the high school students' moral education and social progress. Therefore, it bears great and realistic importance to foster the cultivation of humane spirit in the high school students. Humane spirit education of the high school students is by no means something that could be accomplished within high schools and under any of a single school course. However, as a subject that undertakes the basic education of humane spirit development, Moral Education is duty-bound to take on the task of developing men's spirit, cares, quality and ideals. School education is the major channel to develop humane spirit while Moral Education among which focuses on cultivating outlooks of the world, the life, and the values of the students. The course is also designated for the students to fully understand the significance of democracy, freedom, equality, trust, cooperation as well as the importance of life. Good combination of the three dimensions in Moral Education, namely, the teaching process, school environment and teachers' qualification, will make for development of the students' spiritual consciousness. Accordingly, the principal channels of Moral Education in developing the students' spiritual consciousness include: First, humane spirit education should be implemented in school courses. The teachers are requested to make the development of students' humane spirit education as the major objective of Moral Education, to make full use of humane narratives in the teaching course, to improve teaching method and efficiency and to recognize the activity courses; second, a democratic and free atmosphere is essential in the classrooms. It is widely recognized that campus cultural development and school environment play key roles in students' spiritual construction; third, importance should also be stressed on teacher's humane quality. The basic point for the development of teachers' humane quality is to strengthen their moral education while its key factor is to build up the sense of teaching and serving the students. A teacher who is willing to learn will consequently become a qualified one.
