This thesis studies curriculum setting of general education and the strategy ofteaching administration comprehensively and synthetically with the application of thehistory-reviewing method, documentary-researching method and case-investigatingmethod.Firstly, this thesis defines the conception of general education. With thedevelopment of science and technology, the talented persons have been neededurgently by our fast-developing society. High quality persons are chased and wantedby our world. The former major-based college education model faced the challengesfrom all sides. Meanwhile the general education is accepted and put into use in manyuniversities. However, general education doesn't mean that it cannot coordinate withmajor-based education. There exists connection as well as difference between them,which is break point of this thesis. This thesis systematically stated the recognition ofgeneral education and the difference from major-based education on basis of statingthe deficiency of major-based education and reviewing of the development of generaleducation. From this thesis, we can see that it is imperative to act on general educationand perform the communicating function of general education.Secondly, this thesis illustrates two main reliance of general education. One is theconception reform and the other is Marxist's overall-developing theory. Forconception reform, this thesis showed what the college conception was and expressedthe consistency between general education and modern college conception. Marxist'soverall-developing theory is concerned with how to develop comprehensively. Thisthesis explained the consistency between the repositioning of general education andthe purpose of senior education from the perspective of talent .Thirdly, this thesis systematically studies the curriculum in general education. Inthis part, the features of curriculum are concerned. In this part, it points out therelationship between being learned and being specialized and the relationship betweenhumanity and natural science. The thesis also summarizes the principle of curriculumsetting and point out the construction of curriculum. Some conclusions are got such asthe significance of integration, the reinforcement of quality-raising education and thearrangement of curriculum.Fourthly, the thesis is used to study the strategy of teaching administration. Someproblems concerning teaching administration are mentioned here. The questionsinclude the blindness of curriculum setting, the inactivity of professors' and thestudents' participation, the lack of atmosphere of general education. Hence the perfectstrategy is introduced here. That is to say, we should perfect the teachingadministration system, reserve the curriculum resources, launch activities such asclassics reading, add academic lecture, set up multi-media computer-aiding classroom.Furthermore, we should also set up guaranteeing system to meet the need of smoothdevelopment of general education. The strict regulation (the regulations to both theteachers and the students), the investment to it and the special organizer (generaleducation committee) are also essential for the performance of general education.In the last part, the innovation points of this thesis are stated briefly and someproblems should be called for attention in the later studying.
