In 1898-1936 Peking University Department Of Chinese Language Course Evolution And Causes

The school of Chinese literature of Jingshi college is prior to the department of the Chinese literature of Peking University .The subject of the school of the Chinese literature and the range the content of the subject was listed in detail in the chapter of zouding college ,m 1904. Since then the Chinese literature was established as a new subject .This paper discusses the history of the evolving process of the curriculum of the Chinese literature of the Peking University from 1898 to 1936. During this period ,the curriculum of the Chinese literature of Peking University has undergone five stages: the stage of beginning , the stage of developing, the stage of transformation , the stage of adjustment and the stage of being developed . To 1936, the organization of the curriculum has been formed and the Chinese literature has independed from other subjects as a profession mature subject .The causes that impulsed the evolution of the curriculum are very complicated , such as the system protection of the teaching organization of the Peking University. The literary revolution and the transformation of the literary concept at the May Fourth Movement is also one of the causes. Knowing these historical facts, we will understand that it is not occastional that the department of the Chinese literature of Peking University is important in Chinese history from that time to now. These historical experience will benefit the development of modern curriculum.
