The thesis first focuses on the reform of our traditional instruction approaches. Then the Multiple Intelligence Theory is introduced and the theme rather thoroughly contemplated and demonstrated after the reality of Chinese reading instruction in elementary schools has been taken into consideration.In this thesis, the Multiple Intelligence Theory is summarized. The relationship between Chinese reading instruction in elementary schools and Multiple Intelligence Theory is contemplated. From different angles the theme has been discussed in terms of the aspects of education administrative department, schools, communities, families and students and teachers. The author's own opinion has been proposed with regard to the formulation of the guidelines for Chinese reading instruction in elementary schools, the methods of organizing teaching process, the creation of the learning environment and the transfer of the roles of teachers and students in multiple reading instruction. The essential part of this research is the way to encourage the independent reading of elementary school students and to improve their reading ability and their ability of innovative thinking through the introduction of Multiple Intelligence Theory. Also presented in this thesis is the author's view about the Multiple Intelligence Project on Chinese reading instruction in elementary schools proposed by the author.
