With the development of politics, economy and culture in our country and theadvent of information and economy era, the examination-orientated education, basedon knowledge training, runs into a serious crisis and can't meet the need of talent inmodern society. Therefore, quality education, aiming at people's all-rounddevelopment and resorting to people's comprehensive quality improvement, becomesa byword for modern education. The purpose of this thesis lies in demonstrating theimportance of aesthetic education in modern quality education and illustrating howthe higher educational institutions strengthen the construction of aesthetic educationsystem to develop all-round high quality talent. The first part of this thesis analyzesthe characteristics and functions of quality education that attaches importance to theentire personnel participation and whole process education, employs the means ofintegral, comprehensive and systematic education, persists in people-orientation,exploits potential, consolidates independence and innovation, perfects personality andtrains up socialist new talent with all-round development in morality, intelligence,physicality, and esthetic sensibilities. This part reveals the nature of aestheticeducation as well, that is, a practical activity of education, which is bridged overaffection education, art education and esthetics education, targeted on perfectpersonality cultivation, and destined to develop people's comprehensive ability,independence and innovation, so as to achieve the ultimate pursuit of man, nature andsociety harmoniousness and human kind sustainable development. By contrast, thisthesis analyzes the relationship between aesthetic education and quality education, theformer's position in the latter, and the modern significance of aesthetic education. Thesecond part of the thesis analyses the situation of quality education and aestheticeducation in universities and colleges through the investigation into some highereducational institutions. Imperfect present situations of aesthetic education in theseinstitutions are checked up and laid bare. And the causes leading to the lag of qualityeducation and aesthetic education in higher educational institutions are also analyzedin detail. In this part, the substantial data obtained from survey make solid proof. Thethird part probes into the construction of aesthetic education system in highereducational institutions. The principles of the aesthetic education construction arepresented and the goal of aesthetic education implement is elaborated in the light ofrequisitions of quality education and characteristics of aesthetic education. Moreover,the strategies of constructing aesthetic education system are also brought up and manypositive suggestions are put forward, such as building up integral aesthetic education,reinforcing humane education and humane care, strengthening art appreciation andtraining, establishing experimental base for aesthetic education, founding researchorganization of specialized aesthetic education system and creating poetic school life.This part deals with theoretical probe in accordance with practical demands, realizesthe combination of theory and practice, and strengthens the theoretical direction topractice. This thesis employs the method of investigation and combines theory withpractice. It positively probes into the aesthetic education and college students' quality.The author makes great effort in overcoming the abuse of losing contact with realityin present aesthetic education research field and put forward constructional measuresof strengthening quality education from the aspect of aesthetic education. In particular,the solutions to prominent problems confronted by higher educational institutions inaesthetic education system construction bear a good referential value.
