In the age of the "knowledge-based economy", a country' s innovative capacity including knowledge innovative capacity and technology innovative capacity is a decisive factor for a country' s position in international competition and over-all global structure. In today' s society which features the knowledge-based economy, we should further cultivate the student' s innovation consciousness and ability, which is a determinant for the country' s future and fate, the corn of quality education and the basic task of vocational education.Basked on the analysis of the necessity and feasibility of innovating vocational education, this essay investigated on the current situation of the capability of innovation and creation of the students in vocational schools, revealing that the quality of the students was far behind what was required for the labors of the new age. Then, it set off the discussion, generalization and summary towards innovating thinking and its cultivating theory at home and abroad. Finally, it approached and researched the practice of the cultivation of innovation consciousness. Through mathematics teaching in vocational schools.One feature of this essay is the breakthrough of its training mode. At present, rather than adopting the mode of "thinking training" which is popular at home and abroad, this essay mainly focused on the mathematics education and then cultivated the innovation capability in vocational schools through developing the students innovation consciousness . Another feature is the particularity of the target group. Instead of aiming at primary and secondary students as most of the relevant programs do, this article focused on a special group — the students in vocational schools. Research conformed that: we could not only improve the target student' s quality but also the quality of the fundamental education via cultivating innovative consciousness. Therefore it could serve as experience of quality education and cultivation of talents for secondary vocational and technical education and training schools.
