The generative assessment is a new ideal of assessment, emerging from the needs of the life development of human elements in instructive activities. The generative assessment regards these elements in the instructive activities as a whole, exploring assessment activities from the perspectives of relationship and entirety. It is a value-judging activity which is different from traditional assessments in pursuit of teaching benefiting teachers as well as students. To establish the idea of dynamic assessment in instructive activities is to break the limitations of traditional epistemology on assessment procedures, to lay emphasis on people in instructive activities and the interactions between people. It is to make sense of the objective and authentic instruction assessments on the basic level, to help solving the new problems which appear in instructive practices. This will help to promote the reflection of theories of educational assessment and initiative researches. The thesis is divided into four parts.The first part is about the conception of the generative assessment. The thesis elaborates the reasons for bringing forward the generative assessments, defines the generative assessments, analyzes the understanding about generative assessments, locates the basic features and, from the perspectives of interpretationalism and psychology, explains the reasons for the appearance of the generative assessment.The second part elaborates the meanings of the existence of the generative assessment in the view of value theories, and indicates that the meanings mainly come from the values which evolve from the thoughts of generation in the procedure of assessment. This part is to analyze the dislocation of the values in the instructive assessment, and how to find and relocate these values.The third part elaborates the logic and essence of the existence of the generative assessment in the view of essence theories.
