Vocational education held by ordinary full-time higher schools has grown as the means to carry out the strategies in terms of developing our nation through implementing scientific education and improving higher education, which is also the consequence contributed to the further development of the higher educational reforms.By comparison of SWOT between Vocational Techniques School of Yantai University with other competitors , in particular, with several similar schools in Jiaodong peninsular, the author tries to put forward the development strategies of the school as follows: first, to form a characteristic talents-training pattern, based on the construction of advantageous major, by formulating a scientific talents-training policy and practicing an effective teaching system aimed at strengthening its core competitive edge; second, to change and renew traditional ideas in order to foster an ideal of being educated all the life, an educational concept of respecting personnel, a quality-oriented and ability-based thought concerning vocational education; third, to strengthen the construction of teachers group to make it a group characterized by double- teacher style, to recruit vigorously talents on higher level, to increase the quality of the whole teachers group, to achieve the improvement of the teacher's titles structure and of teachers themselves bytaking advantage of human resources, long-standing image, mature training system, and the right of professional titles evaluation owned by Yantai University respectively; fourth, to give play to enterprises as well as organizations with the demand for talents and take the initiative to train talents needed badly in society by contacting widely various enterprises, businesses and industries and by implementing tailor-made plan. Besides, to set up a long-run system combining industries with subject s, which requires that the subjects should be connected closely with businesses'demand and with the purpose of improving students'practical ability; last, to put into effect the Chinese-foreign joint school-running and, meanwhile, make every efforts to strengthen its competitive edge in the international market and consequently achieve sustainable development.
