Leadership education for gifted and talented is a key issue in the field of gifted and talented education. Leadership education has become a hot topic not only in America but also in Hong Kong and Taiwan, however, the mainlanders rarely pay attention to this field. This study aims at exploring the leadership education for gifted and talented students in American elementary and secondary school from a whole. For approaching the above purpose, reading and analyzing relevant references are the most essential step. This study employs analytical method, inductive method and comparative method as instruments, and focuses on the point of view such as related theory, status and characteristics. This dissertation with intentions to make more researchers and scholars pay attention to this issue, as well as a deeper reflection for the current situation of gifted and talented education in China.The whole dissertation covers five parts. Part one with the title of introduction focuses on the literature review and the paper design. Part two introduces the related theory, including psychology, leadership theory and the leadership theory of gifted and talented. Part three mainly introduces the general survey and characteristics. Though the organizations, programs and ways for leadership education vary from each other, they still have some similarities both in theory and in practice. Part four shows us two typical cases of Duke TIP and Wisconsin "Pyramid Model" in detail. Finally, based on the results mentioned above, conclusions and suggestions as well as further research are provided.
