AP course is currently one of the most important types of courses in American high schools.American high school students studying AP courses can not only learn university-level related knowledge in advance,but also obtain corresponding university credits through AP exams.The School for the Talented and Gifted is one of the top high schools in America that is famous for AP courses.This article takes its AP course as a case study to analyze its current situation,characteristics and problems,and compared with Chinese Advanced Placement(CAP)course,provide experience for the development of CAP curriculum,improve the theory and practice of CAP curriculum development,and promote the development of high school education in China.This article mainly adopts literature research method,comparative research method,case research method and factor analysis method to conduct a comprehensive analysis of AP courses of the School for the Talented and Gifted in America.It is a very young elite high school.In less than 40 years since the school was founded,its AP courses have experienced three periods of confused exploration at the beginning of the school,the ups and downs of development and the glorious journey of prosperity.The requirements of American social development for education,the overall development advantages of American AP courses,and the urgent need to improve the quality of the school are the main reasons for the establishment of its AP courses.In the process of implementation,the School for the Talented and Gifted constantly pursues an AP course concept of "excellent and freedom",and which is committed to cultivating outstanding and individual talents;set up multiple and personalized AP course content to ensure students' full freedom of choice;promote flexible and autonomous teaching to allow teachers give full play to their talents;absorb high-quality and efficient course teachers,and continue to strengthen the team of masters;the management of the College Board,the help of the state government and social forces constitute a fair and rigorous guarantee mechanism,which fully guarantees the efficient operation of the AP courses.These measures work together to build an excellent and fair AP curriculum for the School for the Talented and Gifted.The AP courses of the School for the Talented and Gifted highlights the characteristics of overall planning both inside and outside the school,combining individuality and unity,and both elite and fairness.However,in the course of development,it has also encountered some problems,such as incomplete curriculum offering,unbalanced implementation of liberal arts and science courses,and strong utilitarian tendency.In recent years,although the construction of CAP course in my country has begun to take shape,there are still problems such as incomplete curriculum settings,lack of professional teachers,simplification of curriculum assessment and incomplete curriculum management.In order to achieve ideal development of CAP course,it must not only improve its own problems,but also look at the world and the future.In this way,it is necessary to learn from the beneficial experience of the AP course of the School for the Talented and Gifted.We must create a curriculum concept with Chinese characteristics;develop and set up diversified and individual courses;implement individualized teaching for students;introduce internal and external management systems to coordinate the management of CAP courses by high schools and universities;improve the training of teachers by high school and college cooperation;establish a personalized and comprehensive evaluation platform.
