The main breakthrough of elementary education reform is to cultivate students'abilities of solving actual problems and their innovative abilities so that they can serve society better. However, the cultivation of these two abilities must be fulfilled in the process of solving actual problems. Therefore, the study goals of the students should not only be how much knowledge they have learned, but also be the methods to obtain new knowledge and the good mental tendency which guarantees the process of obtaining knowledge. In order to meet the demands of the new curriculum reforms and to ensure that the process, in which students are trained, can go on smoothly, these three new editions of high school chemistry textbooks, which are under the instructions of the new curriculum standards, all have made bold innovation in the ways that they exhibit the contents. This research compares, analyzes and studies the exhibiting ways of the contents in these three editions of chemistry textbooks from two aspects: the macroscopic aspect and the microscopic aspect. In the macroscopic aspect, the research compares the units'main contents and the orders to give them. Also, it tells us the differences on the exhibiting ways of diagrams and charts and the differences on the designs of all kinds of columns. In the microscopic aspect, this research chooses three parts as the objects, because these three parts are the characteristics of chemistry. For example, the periodic law is the typical representative of chemical theories; ironic reaction (or electrolyte) is the typical representative of chemical concepts; and sulfur and its compounds are the typical representatives of elemental compounds. In addition, many other aspects are analyzed, such as the contents of the textbooks, the utilization of students'knowledge, the designs of studying scenes, the designs of students'inquiry activities, the students'cooperation in learning and the accomplishment of three dimensional goals. What's more, it also explains what roles the exhibiting ways play in the formative process of students'scientific attainments. Thus, we can find the outstanding advantages of these three editions. Comparatively, the edition which is published by the People's Educational Publishing Company (PEPC) inherits more traditional contents. Moreover, in this edition the knowledge system of the chemistry subject still occupies the dominant position. However, the two other editions, published by Jiangsu Educational Publishing Company (JEPC) and Shandong Science and Technology Publishing Company (SSTPC), bring in more advanced...
