With the fast development of physical education curriculum reform in the world and the basic education curriculum in our country, the physical education and health curriculum is facing the huge challenge and opportunity. In the history of curriculum reforms of the world for hundred years, America participates actively in it and even is a leader. In 1995, National Association for Sport and Physical Education issued《National Physical Education Standards》, and revised it in 2005. The designing idea and actualization of new standards give us many revelations. There are five parts in this thesis:Part One: First of all I analyze the existing problems in our physical education reform, and then expatiate roundly on the present situation of PE curriculum between Chinese and American, finally advance the purpose and meaning of this thesis.Part Two: I unscramble and analyze the《National Physical Education Standards》between 1995 and 2005 and get the seven common features of the two editions. Also find the differences from the content standards, level standards and evaluation standards.Part Three: I compare the Chinese《Standard for the course of Physical Education and Health》with American《National Physical Education Standards》in the following eight aspects: (1) the basic idea and curriculum designing; (2) the partition of levels; (3) the enactment of learning target; (4) the relations between basic and individuation study; (5) the education of sport and the process of socialization; (6) PE and health-enhancing; (7) the study and exertion of PE knowledge; (8) the differences of curriculum system.Part Four: I discuss the revelations of five aspects that《National Physical Education Standards》gives us in detail as follow: (1) the educational idea of PE curriculum; (2) the enactment of learning target; (3) basic and individuation development; (4) PE and socialization; (5) the study of health-enhancing.Part Five is the conclusion: (1) compare the 1995's《National Physical Education Standards》with 2005's, there are three differences; (2) Our curriculum makes progress on the educational ideas of "people oriented", but still shows the trial of making standards by "subject oriented"; (3) America gives us many revelations about ideas, targets, basic and individuation development and PE and socialization, and so on. (4) PE and health is not health education, we still misunderstand that PE can solve health problems. This thesis wants to give our PE curriculum some revelations by comparing the Chinese and American PE standards. And also help the PE teachers to understand it completely and do some favor to the revision in the future.
