Against the major background of the new round of curriculum-revolution, the curriculum of Science is now undergoing a great reformation aiming at raising the level of science. As one of the organic components of Science Education, great importance has been attached to the educational assessment of it. However, there exist notable deficiencies on the assessment of Science Education in our country. For example, the evaluation on science knowledge is misused, and the evaluation patterns of science probe are too unitary. All of them are big problems in the Science Education needing urgent solution. In this essay, the author puts forwards a new solution of Science-assessment that can evaluate science knowledge and skill more efficiently on the basis of analyzing and studying existing material and documents. The solution consists of the assessment of the understanding of knowledge, process-skill and thinking capacity. On the part of the assessment of knowledge, the importance of understanding is demonstrated by the derivation of existing educational theories. The four qualities of understanding - knowledge, method, purpose and form - are defined and assessed by the author with case demonstrations. On the part of the assessment of science probe, the author brings forward the concept of single process skill, and point out the blind spot in the assessment of science probe - thinking capacity creatively. Some specific proposals on assessment are given by case demonstrations.Hoping the research will be helpful to science teachers when they are designing tests.
