This paper includes two major parts, the study of theory and the study of application, which supplement each other.In the part of theory study, the outlook on knowledge classification that human knowledge is divided into empirical information and intellectual information is elaborated and the development law of thinking process is described. The empirical information is physical knowledge with experience as its specific contents, while the intellectual information is logical-mathematical knowledge with its own means and ways to find the truth. Thinking process is the formalization of intellectual information. As the process is to formalize, the thinking process is proved to be trainable and transferable, and therefore the train of thinking process is to train the formalization transference. In the author's view, human thoughts may be classified as different types by different standards, but those classifications are not so necessary during the process of training and application, for one thing, different modes of thinking always work together, and what's more, some of them are consolidated into one. By the training of that mode, other modes are also reinforced.The training of thinking ability is an important teaching objective in senior high school chemistry education. Students' thought always undergoes the process of developing and formalization during high school, so the training of thinking ability at that period will do good to help students form a life-time habit of learning. As a basic subject, Chemistry has formed its unique system on the way and strategy of thinking during its development. Chemistry itself is the carrier of thinking to some extent, and it plays an irreplaceable role in the training of students' thinking ability. Thus, it's necessary to run the training of thinking by study of Chemistry.In the part of application study, teaching activities act as the independent variable of the study thinking training experiment, while the score of formal thinking test as the dependent variable. The teaching activities are to deal with the Chemistry experiment exercises and the procedure of thinking process training. In the first grade of Lu Xi senior high back in Jiang Xi Province, experiment is run to the effect that both a laboratory group and a conservative group are established. The experiment lasted two months. Every week, two teaching hours are devoted to it. That is 16 teaching hours altogether are dedicated to the teaching activity which aims to solve the problem of thinking process training. From the result of experiment, we can see that the experiment group with thinking process training has got tremendous development on the formal thinking, and its increment is much more than the ..group's. The investigation result tells ue that the formal thinking ability of the experiment group with thinking process training is obviously better than that of the ..group.The study conclusion is that during the solving of Chemistry experiment, thinking training plays a constructive role in the facilitation of development of formal thinking.There is certain social value on the study conclusion. It has theoretical and experimental significances on the developing of students' thinking and the practicing of Education for all -around development.
