With the rapid growth of mass media, people's transmission mode and environment have undergone tremendous changes, more and more people get information from TV,movie,cartoon and photography. In the information age, visual literacy, which is thought as a basic literacy, is increasingly becoming an important area of study. It has become a key skill to think media images critically and intuitively, so training students' visual literacy has become an important topic. Besides, because of the rapid development of visual culture, foreign culture has a great impact on Chinese traditional culture, on the other hand, visual literacy education can turn the national challenge to opportunity. Therefore, it is especially important to train students' visual literacy, and fine arts are competent for it.By referring to literature, questionnaire, interview and attending church, this research investigates and analyses actuality of middle school students' visual literacy, and then tries to get strategies of training visual literacy in appreciation of fine arts lessons, by applying national visual resources. There are two means to train visual literacy in this paper: excellent national visual resources and the method of appreciating. For developing national resources, this thesis presents some strategies, such as making full use of the advantage of multi-media, combining music and poem with fine arts, and constructing visual literacy interactive community. To improve students' ability to appreciate ,this thesis make the following suggestions: making full use of visual experience, combining visual arts with visual languages and having train on art language form.
