With the development of economy and the progress of the society, Newspapers, television, network medium change continuously, forming a new era,which is chracrized by pictures, symbols and video. Vast amounts of visual information is a double-edged sword.Even though high school students are mature physically and psychologically.They have their own views and attitudes. However,imperfect mind is vulnerable to outside influence.Therefore, to improve students’ visual literacy,so that the students learn to enjoy and analyse image,which is of great significance to students. In this paper, which is based on a high school art appreciation class teaching aims to improve students’ visual literacy. Through the study of relevant materials and paper,I select VTS training strategies, audio-visual interactive teaching strategies, visual experience strategies, strategies of mind maps as four strategies. The author take full advantage of the identity of high school teachers of fine arts.I use high school fine arts appreciation lesson teaching to carry out the teaching experiment and apply the four strategies of visual literacy to improve research. Through four strategies in the teaching of art appreciation course application,I observe If these strategies take effect in promoting students’visual literacy. In the process of art appreciation teaching experiment, I use the interaction between teachers and students, independent inquiry, cooperative learning, other learning styles, pictures, music, video and other means to guide the student to observe the image from different point of view. so that the students learn to observe and fully realize images (art).In this paper, the teaching experiment is used to verify the effectiveness of the visual literacy training strategy.It fully demonstrates the high school art appreciation class teaching experiment,By encouraging students to learn from observation, image analysis, this paper improves the ability of students’ understanding of art works as well as the art works of metaphor,symbol, and abstract meaning.
