In new curriculum reform, the subject of Chinese is injected into a fresh attribute of "human culture", and calls for changing the teach and study way. Middle-school Chinese Project-Based Learning (PBL) embodies Chinese curriculum attributes very well. Students can study in an autonomous, collaborative and explorative way a specific topic established by the teacher according to the students' knowledge abilities in the area of Chinese field. As a harmonious blend of the centrality of instruction contents, the exploration of instruction process, the variety of teaching methods and the gradual setting of instruction objectives, Middle-school Chinese PBL with a specific topic as the bridge is more of a cultivation of students' learning habits and abilities than a intensified learning of Chinese knowledge.Centering around many factors including teaching philosophies or theories, teaching principles, teaching objectives, teaching procedures and effect evaluation, this paper tries to discuss the construction of a more practical Middle-school Chinese PBL pattern. An analysis of the psychology and pedagogy theories of Chinese PBL as well as its teaching principles and objectives clarify the tenet and direction of the practical operation of PBL pattern. Middle-school Chinese PBL can be classified into three categories: comprehensive activities, text reading and writing. This paper focuses on the pattern of comprehensive activity style and text reading style. The former one encounters a procedure as: dig-select, tutor-design, discuss-summarize and product exhibition and evaluation. The latter one encounters a procedure as: Topic explanation and objectives identification, situation construction and reading integration, further discussion and implementation, scientifically training and thinking skill cultivating. With a wish for Chinese PBL to gain tremendous developing momentum over a long time, the author lists some imperative problems by reflecting on his own teaching cases on such two sorts of teaching topics.The application of Chinese PBL pattern can realize the mutual promotion of teaching and learning, cultivate a shared spirit and communication symbols between the teacher and students and elevate their culture taste and living quality.
