Nowadays it is an age of knowledge economy. Science technique has been producing increasing influence on every aspect of our lives: electronic technique, bioengineering……,Under such a background,objective, accurate, tight and normal science speech ability is valued by the people more and more. It has been the characteristics of the speech of the modern people as well as the vivid and emotional art speech. Even its importance is more outstanding. Expository writing,which is one of the most important carriers of science speech is valued a lot. The teaching of it seems more and more important. It,together with the teaching of application and describing literary style,will develop the students'ability of science speech.We say expository writing is"useful". Its practical property comes to a decision that its teaching must be combined with practice. Situational teaching, which is an effective way of teaching, provides the students with a man-made optimized practising scene and a powerful stage. The situational teaching needs the teachers to design valid'practising situations'about the text, in which the students can understand and use science speech. In this way,the value of expository writing can get its full exhumation. So this article brings the situational teaching into the expository writing teaching, trying to do something about designing situations and its application.The article is divided into four parts:The first part elucidates the connection between situational teaching and that of expository writing in junior and senior schools. It probes into connotations and characteristics of teaching situations and situational teaching. It also analyzes the teaching of expository articles in a relatively deep way to show how important situational teaching is in the reading of expository articles.The second part elaborates the path and concrete means in situation-designing, 1) trying to excavate the situational factors in the text and make the situation in the text emerge or develop the text situation,2) how to use the class situations to design teaching situations ,3) encouraging the students to take an active part in designing situations. Different forms ,such as music, pictures and performances , multi-media technique, real object experiments and language, are used to elaborate concrete means .The third part elaborates how to use the situations designed: 1) designing the situation that is expected to midwifery reading expectation so as to help the students into the text,2)Establishing the situation to help the students to feel, understand science speech(of course including the literature speech , 3) designing applied situation to help the students change and create.The fourth part is about a few problems in situation designing: 1)The pertinence and interest are necessary, 2) Attention must be paid to the contact, linking-up,going-deep and its instructive meanings,3)Attention to the consolidation of its novelty and authenticity.
