After the Nanjing national government was founded, the government had worked out the educational purpose, made the new educational policy, various educational laws and regulations. The Ministry of Education promulgated the curriculum standards, in order to regulate the curriculum organization, teaching goal, class hour and teaching material outline for all levels of schools. Chinese education has entered a brand-new stage.The history provisional curriculum standard of middle school in 1929, which was promulgated by the national government, included"the history provisional curriculum standard of junior middle school","the Chinese history provisional curriculum standard of senior middle school", and"the foreign history provisional curriculum standard of senior middle school". The three provisional curriculum standards had stipulated the teaching goal, time assignment, teaching material outline and practicing method.This article takes the history provisional curriculum standard of middle school in 1929 as the research object, analyses the curriculum goal, teaching material outline and practicing method of the three curriculum standards from course sociology's visual angle, then reveals how the standard embodied the ideological form and outlook on values of the governing stratum, how the governing stratum carried on the social control and fostered the talented persons by the history provisional curriculum standard of middle school in 1929. As the highest regulation, the history provisional curriculum standard of middle school in 1929 on the one hand must accord with the needs of the social development, especially the educational development in the Republican period; on the other hand it must fit the governing stratum's needs. From course sociology's visual angle, the latter was the decisive factor whether the history provisional curriculum standard of middle school in 1929 can become "legal" document.In the"curriculum goal part"of the history provisional curriculum standard of middle school in 1929, this article discusses the curriculum goal's value orientation and the demands for students'basic accomplishment. In the"teaching material outline"part, the article discusses the value characteristic and social nature, analyses the category formation and the social control by the data statistics. In the"practicing and estimate"part, the article discusses the social control, the possibility of the appearing with being out of control during the practicing, and the social characteristic of the estimate. In the basis of the analyses one by one to the standard, the article discusses the entire value characteristic and society function of the history provisional curriculum standard of middle school in 1929.As the first set history curriculum standard, the history provisional curriculum standard of middle school in 1929 had promoted the development of history education, established a basis for making the later history curriculum standards. Form 1929 to 1949, all history curriculum standards of the national government were revised and changed on the basis of the history provisional curriculum standard of middle school in 1929.
