The research in Chinese language educational field on Chinese language teachers'role location has become a climax since the new curriculum was carried out in 2001.But it is not difficult to find after summarizing many achievements in previous research that most of the researches explore the teachers'role just by taking teachers as educators in the field, yet they are lack of necessary concerning on the teachers'role as learners and lack of necessary exploration, statement and summarization on the influential factors and certain safeguards of teachers'role location.The article arranges the materials according to the center of role location of language teachers in middle school in the professional development, consisting of four parts as follow:The first part is an introduction, which mainly introduces the background and importance of the study: including bringing up teachers'professional development, differentiating and analyzing some concepts concerned, the objective of teachers'professional development, summarization of researches home and abroad, and so on.The second part is an analysis of the chief influential factors of the language teachers'role location in the professional development as a learner. The study of this part starts with the characteristics of Chinese curriculum, the level of language teachers'cognition, the new Chinese curriculum and the route of the teachers'professional development.The third part discusses what role the language teachers of middle school should locate. It explores the type of the role and attempts to form a system centered on four aspects: participants, reconsiders, cooperators, self-educators, and the demands of the roles in the system.The last part discusses the guarantee system about the role location of language teachers in the professional development from four aspects as follows: governments, schools, educational trainers, society and teachers themselves. And also gives some attemptional suggestions on the ground of the third part.The main idea of the article is: It is essential for us to grasp the roles well in the professional development, and we have to do so according to kinds of demands that the new educational circumstances raise for the teachers'professional development. Language teachers in middle school should act the roles as participants, reconsiders, cooperators, self-educators, and understand the divisible the connection of roles sufficiently, and guide self's practice by it. In the practice, the help of governments, the coordination of schools, the guide of educational trainers and the understanding of entire society are the important strengths in the guarantee system in addition to efforts of language teachers themselves.It is meaningful for the research of the present article to help language teachers find their roles exactly and reasonably in the professional development and make governments, schools, teacher trainers and even entire society concern and guarantee the role location of language teachers in their professional development.
