Teachers' professionalization, a key trend in the development of teacher career internationally, is one of the central topics in the reform of current teachers' education. This thesis, the case study in the professional development of a middle-school supreme teacher, is a project to explore phases and characteristics of teacher professional development.Basing on currently available theories in teacher professional development and using the case of a middle-school supreme teacher as a typical sample, this project firstly analyzed main factors which functioned in his professional development: educational experience and support from family members were the basis of his teacher professional development; external factors such as education research, opening class, and expectation from others etc created opportunities for his teacher professional development; internal factors, including faith, motivation, and good willpower of his own provided the power for his teacher professional development. Furthermore, this project explored the different developing phases during his teacher professional development and their content and characteristics: the fusion between survival and the working-fact in the entry phase of teachers' professionalization; the fusion between building confidence and facing frustration in the developing phase of teachers' professionalization; the fusion between education research and teaching retrospection in the mature phase of teachers' professionalization; and the fusion between school administration and teachers training in the advanced and extent phase of teachers' professionalization.From these analysis and exploration shown above, it is typical and representative to the professional development of this particular supreme teacher. The purpose of this study is to providing an example and accelerating the progress of the profession development for more teachers.
