Nowadays, new curriculum reform in our country proposes multivariateassessment methods. As an assessment with distinguishing features, performanceassessment is attached importance gradually. Performance assessment mainly assessesthe ability of applying knowledge to practice, putting things into practice and blazingnew trails, emotional level of learning and values in school educational backgroundby way of assessing students' specific performance during their finishing actual tasks.It's a new way of directly checking the student's ability on knowledge integratedutilization and solving actual problem. It plays a notable role on facilitating thestudents' development and improving teaching.In the world, since the later twentieth century, England, America, Australia,Singapore and Hong Kong et al. began to implement performance assessment incollege entrance examination successfully. But in our country, the research onperformance assessment is in groping stage. It is still not implemented in collegeentrance examination consciously and scientifically. People often take a skepticalattitude towards reliability and validity of performance assessment. But reliability andvalidity are fundamental requirements of educational measurement quality assessment.In view of the above-mentioned facts, it is necessary for us to do further research onreliability and validity of performance assessment, which will benefit for curriculumassessment reform.First, this thesis introduces the history, meaning and properties of performanceassessment and the meaning of reliability and validity. And then, basing on thefundamental theory of performance assessment, reliability and validity, analyses andproves the reliability and validity of performance assessment used in college entranceexamination by way of exploring logic basis and practical basis. At last, this thesisproposes some measures on how to improve the reliability and validity ofperformance assessment used in college entrance examination. The research showsthe performance assessment itself has reliability and validity, but they are not fixed. Ifthere is no reasonable man-made design or correct operation, the reliability and validity of performance assessment will be reduced or forfeited. By implementingsome measures, the reliability and validity of performance assessment can beadvanced. In a word, the research on reliability and validity of performanceassessment in college entrance examination can not only enrich and develop ourcountry's performance assessment theory, but also can make us know about standardsof designing performance assessment and methods of promoting the reliability andvalidity of performance assessment, which provides some theory reference basis forour scientifically implementing performance assessment in college entranceexamination later.
