Chen Heqin is a very famous modern educationist, children psychologist and children education expert in China, he is the founder of Chinese preschool children education, and his job has been a great contribution to the development of preschool education and the research of children psychology. He is honored as "father of the Chinese preschool education" and "China's Froebel". Living education is the essence of his education thought. The article carries out an extensive and systematic research upon his "living education" thought. The article analyzes the origin and formation and development of his "living education", summarizes its content, and reveals its historic value to the development of Chinese education, and its enlightenment to preschool education nowadays. The formation of "living education" thought has its special historical background and theoretical origin, it is the result of new education campaign practiced in China. The core idea of Chen Heqin's "living education"thought is studying and understanding children, loving and respecting children. Chen Heqin's "living education" mainly consists of the prerequisite and basement of its application, its purpose, curriculum theory, methodology, and view of teacher. Nowadays, with the moral introducing of "Chidren First" and the scientific requisition of preschool education, the reformation of preschool education should be carried out continuously and more extensively. Reformation of preschool education is imminent. Now there exists some misguiding ideas in Chinese contemporary preschool education, through the discussion of its view of education, view of children, curriculum theory, teacher's quality and family coeducation, Chen's "living education" thought can be taken as a reference to solve these problem, it can also work as a guideline for the contemporary reformation of preschool education, and provide a effective way to the earlier realization of modernization of preschool education.
