Reforming the courses of high school is an important measure of china's basically educational reform and development. For school, it is not only a change on courses, but also a great change on the ideas of education, the patterns of teaching and the school culture. The Principal is the key to carrying it out. Only by changing the function and methods of management of a principal can the reform be carried out. So, the reform is a challenge for a principle. whether the function of a principle can change concerns the implementation of the new education plan, concerns whether the school can be developed, therefore, it requires that high school principles should get rid of the function of a manager who works under the background of examination-oriented education and try to find new functions. With the reform to be implemented, I, who is a high school principle, is always thinking about the features of new system of education, and the functions a principle should take. Therefore, I can have a clear understanding of the functions of a principle before September of the year 2006, when the reform of new courses should be implemented. And also I can get everything ready for the reform. In order to make the reform referred to above practical, in the recently year, I inspected in Guangya High School and Donghuan High School in Guangzhou Province, which implemented the reform earthier than other schools and also I inspected in Finland which has got success in the reform. In order to make use of the experience Finland High School got, combine the exact requirement and state my own ideas of changing functions of a principle, I write this essay.
