Regional Teaching and Research (RTR) activity is a significant and one of the best means to improve teaching quality and teachers'proficiency in their teaching subject. For some historical reason, there has been a low efficiency problem in the secondary school geography teaching and research activity in Zhongshan District, Dalian. In order to solve this problem, the author employs the methods of surveying, on-the-spot observations and conversation centering on the teachers'teaching and researching participation and efficiency. Meanwhile, questionnaires, case study in classroom and follow-up conversations are used to analyze the roots of low efficiency problem in RTR activity. Finally, the paper proposes some strategies for enhancing the validity of the regional geography teaching and research activity with the purpose of improving the quality of RTR activity in secondary school geography education.
