The art education of preschool children consists of many aspects, such as children education on painting, music, dancing, performing, literature, movie, calligraphy, and books. It can enrich their aesthetical knowledge, enhance their aesthetical faculties, and develop their self-expression ability; it can also boost their development on individuation. In a word, the art education, with or without, high or low, is closely related to the growth and development of preschool children. However, in recent years, due to the fierce impact of market economy, the art education of preschool children is governed by utilitarianism. Thus, to some extent, the current art education of preschool children violates the rules of education. Among the many violations are the aberrancy of art education, the simplicity of art education, the absolute workmanship inclination.With the prevalence of Reggio Emilia Approach in China, the majority of teaching staff gradually acknowledges topic-centered teaching method, which greatly influences the goal, the content, and the evaluation of art education of preschool children. It is different from the traditional method of education and is marked by the following characteristics: the conformity of preschool children development, the synthesis of the content of activities, the wholeness of the process of activities, the dialogism of activities, and the equality of teacher-child interaction.Combining the Reggio Emilia Approach with our practice, we can generalize the process of the art education of preschool children into"one theme, ten sections". One theme refers to the center topic of a certain unit or a certain period of time. Through the discussion on the topic, the children are expected to acquire new, whole and affiliated experience towards the problems, phenomena, and events implied by the theme. That is to say, the theme of art education of preschool children is not only itself, but also the problems, phenomena, and events related to or implied by the theme. The ten sections refer to the ten steps of the design and process of the activity. They are the resource of the theme, the pre-design of the goal, the pre-design of the thinking network, the pre-design of acting network, the pre-design of the researching plan, the available teaching resources, the outspread of activities, the finishing network of the activity, the evaluation and reflection, and the materials.It is a challenging job to teach with topic-centered teaching method in the art education of preschool children, because the method requires that teachers have higher ability to harmonize and control the whole. During the process, the following aspects should be highlighted: the veracity of theme selection, the art of teaching process, and the interaction in the process of the activity.
