Ideological and political education means a process during which a certain class, political parties or social groups use certain ideas, political views and ethics to educate and influence their members through planned and organized ways, aiming at rendering the members to meet desirable requirements in their activities. It is through certain forms that subjects and objects are linked and interacting with each other in the educational process, that the information or the content of the ideological and political education is carried and transmitted. These forms applied and manipulated by the subjects are called carriers of ideological and political education。The importance of carriers to the Ideological and political construction lies in that they make the educational thoughts and purposes materialized, externalized and realized. Without carriers subjects and objects can not interact with each other, the process of ideological and political education can not become a reality, either. Faced with diverse and ever-changing society and working objects whose quality are continuously improving, such carriers as class instruction, conference, media, interviews and models have to keep pace with the times, to innovate content, forms and means to raise the scientific and modernized level. Second, the form innovations of modern carriers need to be continually explored. Modern carriers are new ones arising from the social development with characteristics of the modern time. New changes in social life, advances in science and technology and new features of university students'life are the direct source of the modern carrier. In the new historical period, on the basis of sibilating the traditional carriers, we should create and apply new carriers, such as networks, culture, activities, management, psychological counseling and so on, to make the ideological and political education for university students better fit for the times and more practicable.Nowadays the study of ideological and political education for university students is weak, and it is still largely at the experience patterns while that of the innovative carriers in the ideological and political education, particularly of the modernization of traditional carriers, and of modern scientific systematic carriers is even weaker, which can't meet the requirements of its disciplines and social development. Therefore, the systematic summaries and profound study of this theoretical field are of both theoretical and practical significance to change the current research situation, to enhance the carriers'innovation and development in educational practice, and to quicken the scientific process of the discipline of ideological and political education.
