With the establishment of the strategy of developing the country by relying on science and education and the practice of a new round basic education course reform. Inquiring teaching and learning has already been one of the key issues in the basic education course reform. The mood of using inquiring teaching and learning to lead the students to make a thorough inquiry in their study has also been taken in the latest course standard. As The Chinese Full-time Compulsory Education Course Standard (Testing draft 2001 Edition): PE course must base on the characteristics of the students'physical and psychological development and also characteristics of PE learning, pay close attention to the individual differences and various studying demands of the students, cherish their curiosity and appetites for knowledge, fully excite their initiatives and active senses, initiate the independent cooperating and inquiring way of learning. The confirmation of the contents of courses, the choice of the teaching methods and the design of appreciation should all contribute to the foundation of inquiring learning. In this thesis, taking the PE department of Baoding normal college for example, we research by ways of experiments measurements and statistics to train the students'abilities of breakthrough and pass. The results show that the inquiring teaching methods have advantages in improving the students'basketball abilities and their theoretical level, also their psychological qualities than other teaching methods. First. According to the stasis tics of diagram 2 , the results of the students participated in sports between experimental group and the reference group have a remarkable gap(p<0.01). In experimental group, the results of every round of sports participation have remarkable differences (p<0.01). This shows that the students in the experimental group have activities in exercises; they have a better understanding and better abilities to communicate with others.Second. Theoretically speaking, because environmental circumstances have a direct influence on the students'abilities of getting messages, from diagram 2, we can conclude that the cooperative inquiring study method does better in helping students getting knowledge than normal teaching and learning.Third. From diagram 2 , there are no changes of the four round results in the creative part of experimental group and the reference group(p<0.01). But there is obvious gap among the results of the experimental group itself (p<0.01) while the reference group having no changes. This identifies the level of theory; the movements of mind and the communication between the team members all affect the enlightening teaching.Fourth. We can recognize that there are enormous differences among the four grounds between the two groups (p<0.01). In experimental group (p<0.01) while the reference group(P<0.05). The reason is: as the pragmatically a part is concerned, the theory comes from practices and has an good effect on practice. The improvement of the theory level and techs of the students in experimental group promote each other, make the students improve their teamwork in communication.Fifth. After have a look at diagram 4, we can find it: compared with the comparative group, the communication abilities of the students in experimental group are much better. For basketball is a team work, so the result should reflect the power of teamwork. The learning mode of cooperating and exploring provides the students a good environment of learning and discussing together. Meanwhile, it enhances the students'abilities of getting along with others and expressing their own opinions.
