Teachers are the core human capital for a university. Like other organizations, compensation ineluctable affects the competitive level of university's human capitalwith its inspiriting and value-guidance functions, even the realization of historicalmission of our nation's prospering with science and education. The dissertation startedwith university teacher's working characters, applying human capital theory, trust—agent theory, and the theory of distribution according to work etc., itsummarized our nation's traditional compensation pattern that based on educationalbackground, post and longevity as well as used other countries' multiple-- structurecompensation pattern of university for reference. Sequently, it emphatically analyzedthe contradiction between current compensation pattern and university's sustainabledevelopment. The current compensation pattern as well as compensation pattern in ourhistory is either equalitarianism or efficiencilism, which are two extremes ofdisadvantages. There exists a deviation on inspiring teachers and making school'slong—term development, far from what it should be. Therefore, the dissertation putforward the construction of a two-dimensional compensation pattern based oncompetence and performance. As a kind of inspiring combinatorial compensationpattern, it is the inheritance and development of university compensation pattern bothdomestic and abroad and it consists of basic compensation, performancecompensation and contingency pay. In this pattern, contingency pay acts as a linkbetween competence and performance, joining basic compensation and performancecompensation, making the two-dimensional compensation pattem an organic whole.Ultimately, the two--dimensional compensation pattern aims to contribute to theharmonious development of university and teachers ultimately.
