Huang Yanpei, a loyal Patriotism and famous educator, who took saving the country and people, fulfilling the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation as his lifelong pursuance. In order to realize this ideal, he chose the way of saving the nation through education. This essay deliberates from the forming and development of saving the nation by education, gives the research about the connotation of this thought in different times systematically. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, the main content of this thought's coming is "encourage educations, set up schools". During the Republic years, he brought forward the education ameliorating with the pragmatism specifically for the phenomenon that education and life has broke away seriously. In order to solve social living, he raised vocational education to save the nation with the aim of making the country prosperous and building up its people strong. In 1926, he put forward the big vocational education doctrine, which stands for the transition of his thoughts. Gradually, he realized the function of education correctly, and finally he gave up the thoughts of saving the nation by education.Looked over the changing process about Huang Yanpei's thoughts to save the nation by education, it has the following Characteristics: Clear goals, makes the country prosperous and people strong; Realistic, keeps pace with the times; Broad and profound, influences profoundly.Although Huang Yanpei's thoughts have historical limitations, they have many helpful surveys and successful experiences, which are worth of studying and researching.
