Contingency In The Stick: The Hui Culture, Cultural And Philosophical Perspective

Change of cultural mode is an important subject in present Chinese cultural philosophy research. Hui culture, like other Chinese minority culture, as a part of Chinese culture, also faces the problem of adapting to the need of modernization and accomplishing the change of its culture mode. In this dissertation, I attempted to explore the answers of these problems. Researchers used to dissect and induce characterizes of minority culture from the angles of anthropology and sociology. I'm willing to draw lessons from the past research. Here I'll use Marxist as guiding ideology, analyze the culture of Hui in the frame of cultural philosophy and globalization. According to the principle of historical materialism, this dissertation reviewed the history of Hui, explained the characteristics of Hui culture, probe the way of its mode transformation. Altogether this article contains tree main parts.In the first part,I analyzed the source and spread of Hui culture, probed into the from and development of Hui culture. Both Islamic culture and Chinese culture have enough space to transform. Hui culture also has the characteristics, because it comes from these two cultural styles. It is the key point that keeping the corn of Islamic culture and absorbing Chinese culture which made Hui culture develop independently.In the second part, I analyzed the characteristics of Hui culture. Hui culture shows the dialectics of diversify and unify, of adapting and keeping, of progressing and returning. The diversity of Hui national source is the base of its cultural diversity. The unified of Hui culture various in different times. Sometimes it showed Islamic culture, other times Chinese culture. But in most times, it's a kind of Islamic culture with Confucianist characteristics (or Islamic culture with Chinese characteristics).it's the conscious choice for Hui culture to adapting Chinese culture. Keeping is the key point to preserve its characteristics. The dialectics of progressing and returning balance it between common life and spiritual world.In the third part, I analyzed the transformation of Hui culture. Hui culture meets many problems in the modern society. Such as, it's breaking in cities and countries, between the young and the old, and its extreme development in countries. Then I analyzed the necessity and possibility of Hui culture's transformation from theoretical level. Now in the context of building culture of harmony and promoting world culture prosperity, it is possible to make Hui cultural style change successfully through arousing the awareness of Hui people. To reach the goal, first we should develop the economy of Hui, also Hui people's consciousness, the reflection and reconstruction by its elites is important. Besides, effective policy system and mechanism will ensure the transformation. In all, the way of Hui culture mode change should comply with the development of Chinese culture mode and balance between keeping and transforming.
