This research focuses on the practical problems in information technology teaching for rural high school education, such as too much emphasis on technology training, ignorance of the development of students’individual characters, one-sided dependence on existing resources, lack of exploration and innovation, and emphasis on ease of application of resources with neglect of the cultivation of information literacy, etc. The research tries to explore their root causes by means of combining theory with practice, using technical tools for learning to improve the students’quality in information and to develop the learning capability, which enable the students to meet the requirements of the modern society.This study adopted document study method, action research method and questionnaire survey method. Aiming to get more practical information to carry out this subject, the author did a lot by comparing and analyzing some relevant domestic and international research theories and results. During this period, a lot of work on collecting information and consulting documents was done. The survey chose the students studying in the normal middle schools in Gao Chun county as the respondents, which is quite representative, and analyzed the statistics got from the research as well as the accountable causes. It is found that the majority of rural high school students are short of the abilities on dealing with problems using digital approaches due to their lack of intention of studying by using information science. And its primary causes for this common phenomenon are as follows. Firstly, it is owing to the inadequate understanding of information technology. What’s worse, there is no sophisticated and perfect teaching methods and strategies used in high schools in rural areas. All these factors cry out for deep research and development to form a set of efficient ways of teaching.Having integrated various information technology education approaches and all sorts of available information resources, this writing mainly concentrates on how to reform the methods, which can be used to improve students’learning capability in the network environment, and how to use them freely and properly in the real teaching practice with the help of computer technology and network technology. This writing also puts forward some original viewpoints and presents some achievements obtained from this research. These are of some importance to the improvement of the students’learning capability in the network environment, for the reference value and practical significance they have.
