Since the second half of 20th century, curriculum integration has been an important trend of elementary education reform in the world. It is the same case in China, where specialized curriculum and integrated curriculum, such as,'science' , 'history and society' , 'art' , are set coherently in the middle school. Social studies curriculum integrates the knowledge of various arts, being an important integrated one, it can not only help the students look at the world from the integrative and overall perspectives, but also help them understand and adapt to the society. Social studies curriculum is specially important to students' development, but Chinese scholars haven' t paid much attention to studying it. Why? One reason is that specialized curriculum is emphasized particularly on elementary education for a long time; the other is the short history of social studies curriculum. Even if there is this kind of studies, they care more about the theory than the implementation. However, the implemental effects play an important role in the maintenance and development of the curriculum.
