Study Of College Students' Achievement Motivation

Nowadays, the research into achievement motivation is one of the important subjects in modern psychological science. College student cadres, however, is a special group of people of which achievement motivation has scarcely taken into consideration. The purpose of this study is trying to find out the characteristics and the present conditions of college student cadres' achievement motivation in a positive way, so as to arouse the chief management bureau of education, teaching staff and student cadres themselves' attention. This study also wants to bring the cultivation and inspiration of the student cadres' achievement motivation into a significant part of project of the construction of college student cadres, and to provide a foundation stone for the further study of college student cadres' achievement motivation.The questionnaire samples are 915 student cadres from several universities in Chongqing. Namely, Chongqing University, Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications , Chongqing Normal University, Chongqing Technology and Business University and Sichuan International Studies. The author of this article uses the achievement motivation questionnaire to test their motivation of pursuing success, avoiding failure, and their achievement motivation level.Statistical software SPSS10.0 was adopted during the course. The statistical method such as Means-statistic, T-test and one-way ANOVA were used to analyze the data from six different aspects, say, gender, major, grade, school, work layer and position class.The research result suggested that generally the college student cadres possess a high level of achievement motivation, and have high awareness of avoiding failure. The result varied with the factors of gender, grade, school, position class and so on. Finally, in order to cultivate and inspire college student cadres' achievement motivation and strengthen the group construction of college student cadres, seven suggestion were put forward in the article according to the result of the research.
