In the process of middle school history teaching, historical data exercise is one of the main kinds of class exercises, homework and all kinds of examinations. How to establish the historical data exercises and how to make better use of them to improve the history learning ability of students is a practical and significant thesis of the research of middle school history teaching. Based on the analysis of the history paper of college entrance examinations (including national volume and the Shanghai volume) of the past ten years, this article discusses the significance of the historical data exercises in the middle school history teaching. It also carried out several opinions and suggestions on how middle school teachers should establish and take advantage of historical data exercises as well as how both teachers and students should consider about them after using them.This article includes six parts. The first part theoretically illustrates the significance of historical data exercises in the middle school history teaching according to the analysis on the proportion of college entrance examinations as well as concerning about the development and reformation of history teaching. The second part discusses the establishment of historical data exercises based on characters and requirements of history teaching. It claims principles of the election and establishment of historical data exercises in the middle school history teaching on the basis of researching and analyzing. The third part states the problems of making use of historical data exercises. It lifts how to carry on historical data teaching and exercising by paying attention to historical data classes and homework, in order to improve the teaching ability of teachers who use the method of historical data teaching. In the fourth part, it discusses the teaching feedback after exerting historical materials, and proposes related suggestions for teachers and students about how to rethink. The fifth part states the relations between the teaching of historical materials exercise and other teaching ways. In the sixth part, it discusses that the exertion of teaching ways of historical materials exercises challenges history teacher, and proposes some requirements for history teacher in professional accomplishment and teaching ability, and so on.The article probes into the significance of the teaching method of historical data exercises and the problems when it's put into use, from the perspective of the combination of theories and facts, based on the actual circumstance of the development of middle school history teaching reformation and the practical concrete teaching. From the view of current courses reform, the historical data exercise teaching and estimate can promote the quality and level of middle school history teaching, and therefore, it becomes a huge challenge to the middle school history teachers. It will press the teachers to improve their professional level and teaching skill, and change their teaching ideas and volunteer to explore and think over during the teaching practice, and compile and use the historical data exercises properly, so as to promote the efficiency of middle school history teaching.
