With the implement of new course standard reform, traditional teaching methods, which have obvious defects especially in developing students' problem discovering and solving skills and promoting cooperation, become unable to satisfy the needs of quality education. Then, how can the goals of new course reform be achieved? One of the effective ways in geography teaching is to set a problem context. It is good to develop students' interest in geography, promote their abilities of logical thinking cooperation and enable them to form social responsibility.Geographical feature creates The following principles should be followed when creating problem in teaching should a problem context in geography teaching: Principles of Zone of Proximal Development, Consistent Principle , Pertinence Principle , Subjective Principle , Challenge Principle and Emotion Driving Principle. How to create problem contexts in geography teaching? The textbook, which is the most familiar to the teachers, is often used to create a problem context. Besides this, cases in real life , story literary quotation , news hot spot, verses , ditties , odes and songs, experiments, student's mistakes etc. can also be chosen to create problem contexts. The validity of the created problem contexts should be estimated according to the following aspects: Whether they correspond to contents of courses and student reality, whether they mobilize student's enthusiasm, whether they bring student's main body position and whether they concern the emotion attitudes and outlooks on values of the students. Besides, the author pointed out some problems which should be paid attention to when the contexts are put into effect: the problem contexts should not only be used to lead in the title of the lesson, and their designer is not the teacher only and it should be used to push the students forward. At the end of the essay, the author raised some puzzles and some problems remaining to be solved in the course of research work.
